Hola & Hello, nice to meet you!
My name is Natalia Schweitzer and I was born in Santiago, Chile many moons ago! I first came to the Riviera Maya ( like many other thousands of tourists ) in 1998 and fell in love with the place very quickly. What I did not realise at the time was that the place fell in love with me too and so, after many turning points in my life back home in Chile, I decided a bigger change of direction was needed and I came back here at the end of 1999.
Someone once told me that this part of our planet holds a special magnetism that pulls people back again and again: this is certainly true for me and if you keep reading my story, I think you’ll see how it works! First, a bit more about my background…
I studied Hotel Management & Tourism and a year of English & German Translation at the Catholic University in Chile and subsequently worked for the Hotel Hyatt Regency Santiago and also for The Airline British Airways as an Account Manager before my move back to the Caribbean. These two large, international companies were ideal places to work for a career in tourism and I gained a lot of valuable experience in the industry whilst there. When I returned to Mexico more than 16 years ago, I began working for the Hotel Iberostar Tucan and Quetzal, one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Playa del Carmen at that time. After a month there working on the front desk, an opportunity arose for me to apply for a position in the weddings department and happily, I was successful. I now began my new career as a Wedding Planner! Little did I know at the time but after being involved with 350 weddings and enjoying every minute, that I had found what I really wanted to do for the rest of my life. This was my LOVE number ONE.
There has to be a LOVE number TWO of course and 6 months later I met the Man of my life, THE ONE, my other half and his name is Matt. After many adventures together and lots of traveling in Europe and Chile, we decided to move to England to begin our new life. During my time in England, I improved my English, worked hard, learnt about the local “ Pub culture” and life was fun & brilliant BUT it was not the Caribbean! We missed the sun, the white powdery sand, the warmth and turquoise waters……………so after a year and a half we returned to Mexico. Perhaps it was the mysterious magnetism of the Riviera Maya or the Mayan Pyramids… I am not really sure but back we came and have been living here happily ever since. The Wedding: In 2002, we tied the knot and had a wonderful wedding back home in Chile, held on an oceanfront terrace in beautiful sunshine – a Wedding on the Beach of course, couldn’t be any other way! The best day of our lives! The Baby: After 7 years trying, God finally blessed us with a beautiful baby girl. We called her Victoria ( Victory being the the same word in Spanish and English, seemed appropriate! ) My LOVE number THREE.
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
As you can see after reading all this, ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE as the Beatles sang, seems the order of the day! Just a bit more boring background information so that you know about my work experience which has lead me to where I am today. Everything I did in my life has helped me develop the skills needed to become a Destination Wedding Specialist. When we returned to Mexico in 2003, I went back to work for the all-inclusive resorts in the area of Sales and Marketing. After a couple of years, I was offered an opportunity to work in an online travel agency, specializing in sales for the market of US and CA where I learnt all about the different hotels, villas and resorts available in the area of Riviera Maya and Tulum – their characteristics, pros and cons and price ranges etc. However, I had not forgotten my LOVE number 1 and it was not long before I set about finding out how I could begin my own business, organizing beautiful weddings!
So, in 2006 I launched Weddings on the Beach.com.mx and using my past experiences, started my own business as an independent Wedding Planner specialized in Destination Weddings. Well, the rest is history………and with the help of a wonderful team of The BEST wedding professionals in the area I have been able to help many, many couples with their “ Happily ever after” stories and make their dreams come true!
